Digital publishers are no longer just using social media to share and distribute content. Now, publishers are using various social media platforms, whether thats Twitter, Facebook Live, Instagram, Periscope, Snapchat (the list goes on…) to not only have a web presence, but are using these tools to enhance their reporting.
The award for Best Social Storytelling is a new category in this year’s Digital Publishing Awards, and our jury has nominated 3 impressive pieces. The award honours the digital publication that best enhances its brand and maximizes audience engagement through storytelling on multiple social-media platforms.
The Globe and Mail tells us the story of Crichton Farm over a series of Instagram posts, HuffPost Canada shows us how to make the best use of Facebook live, while reporting on-the-ground at the Fort McMurray fires, and YMC: Motherhood Unfiltered demonstrates how to crowdsource a wide range of opinions/information using various social media platforms.
