Nous avons le plaisir d’annoncer les lauréats de la 8e édition des Prix d’excellence en publication numérique, qui ont été dévoilés lors la soirée qui s’est déroulée aujourd’hui à l’Arcadian Court à Toronto. Lors de la soirée des Prix d’excellence en publication numérique, les lauréats des médailles d’or et d’argent ont été présentés dans 24 catégories différentes, les gagnants de l’or dans les catégories individuelles de créateurs recevant chacun un chèque de 500 dollars. L’animatrice Anita Li a ouvert la soirée en rappelant aux participants qu’il s’agissait de célébrer toutes les histoires nominées. Que ces histoires aient été conçues pour divertir, éduquer, inspirer, ou peut-être un peu des trois, elles ont été racontées avec talent et soin, et nous avons été ravis de les célébrer ce soir.

Le Prix d’excellence : talent émergent vise à honorer un individu dont les premières œuvres dans le secteur de la publication numérique démontrent un talent et un potentiel remarquables. Cette catégorie cible les jeunes auteurs, créateurs visuels, designers, développeurs, éditeurs et autres jeunes professionnels qui ont fait preuve d’excellence et de potentiel dans au moins un domaine de la publication numérique canadienne. Ce prix s’adresse aux individus de moins de 30 ans.

« Lors de l’examen des candidatures pour le Prix d’excellence : talent émergent, il nous a été demandé de prendre en compte trois points principaux : la qualité et la créativité de l’œuvre du candidat, son impact et son potentiel. Emma McIntosh a excellé dans ces trois domaines, mais ce qui a vraiment retenu l’attention, c’est l’ampleur de son impact. Les reportages qu’elle a réalisés pour The Narwhal ont permis aux politiciens et aux décideurs de s’asseoir et de prendre conscience de la situation. Et à une époque où beaucoup d’entre nous ressentent probablement une certaine lassitude à l’égard du climat, elle incite également les lecteurs à s’asseoir et à prendre conscience de la situation. Ses reportages pourraient servir de modèle pour un journalisme qui se démarque à l’ère de la surcharge d’informations. Et nous sommes impatients de voir ce qu’elle fera ensuite. »
