The National Media Awards Foundation (NMAF) Masterclass Series is a series of online courses and resources curated specifically for the Ontario publishing industry, and made available by the experts at LinkedIn Learning. Best of all, it’s free to access!
LinkedIn Learning is an online learning platform with thousands of video courses taught by experts in the field. Thanks to support from Ontario Creates, we’ve partnered with LinkedIn Learning to make a selection of their online courses available to Ontario-based publishing professionals for free through the NMAF Masterclass Series.
Participants will also gain access to a curated collection of resources and learning tools, including podcasts and webinars, hand-picked by the NMAF.
Ontario-based publications and freelancers are invited to contact us now to participate and access the NMAF Masterclass Series. Spots are limited, so don’t delay!
What can I expect to learn?
The Masterclass Series focuses on all functional areas of publishing, including editorial, circulation, advertising, sales, marketing, design, operations and publishing strategy. We’ve focused particularly on courses and resources that will help you build capacity, market share and sales at your magazine.
- A collection of marketing and advertising courses will help you expand your knowledge of marketing and advertising strategies across channels, platforms and audiences, from digital marketing trends to advertising basics.
- An editorial-focused collection has learning tools to help writers and creators new to the publishing industry hone their craft in magazine writing and editing. Learn how to build relationships with emerging writers, get expert advice on writing under a deadline or when you have writer’s block, and more.
- Looking to design your first newsletter? Want to make your print magazine available digitally? Need to learn the basics of magazine design? Our collection of editorial design resources includes Adobe InDesign-specific tutorials.
- We curated a collection of courses on publishing operations with creative companies in mind. Here, you’ll find resources on topics like inclusive leadership, strategic planning and managing remote teams.

More details:
How does LinkedIn Learning work?
All LinkedIn Learning courses are taught by instructors with real-world experience. You’ll learn at your own pace: you can choose to watch just relevant segments of a course, or go fully in-depth with learning paths that cover multiple courses.
You can access the courses online, or download them for offline viewing using LinkedIn Learning’s mobile app.
In addition to access to the curated NMAF Masterclass resources, you’ll also get personalized recommendations from LinkedIn to help you access more courses that are tailored to you and your learning needs.
Do I need to use my personal LinkedIn account?
Not necessarily. For Ontario-based publications in particular, we recommend setting up a staff account using a general email address so that you can share access with your team. Multiple people can access LinkedIn Learning via a staff account.
How long will I have access to LinkedIn Learning?
Through our partnership with LinkedIn Learning, we’re able to give participants in the Masterclass Series a one-year free LinkedIn Learning license. You’ll have access to the Masterclasses and LinkedIn Learning for one year after you secure your place in the program.
Do you have further questions about the NMAF Masterclass Series? Please reach out to us at info@digitalpublishingawards.ca.
