Over the past decade, podcasts have emerged as one of the most captivating form of non-fiction storytelling. They inform us of the news, provide context and insight, educate and excite us.
South of the border, we were (and continue to be) enthralled by podcasts like This American Life, Serial and Radiolab. Now, we have our own impressive selection of shows from Canadian creators to choose from, and we’re excited to show you our judges’ selections for the Best Podcast award
This year’s award will honour the podcast series that best serves its intended audience. The originality of the theme and the quality of production will be judged, as well as creative use of the podcasting medium.
This year’s nominees are nothing short of momentous, relevant and urgent. They include conversations with multifaceted, real, interesting, and flawed women, an re-investigation into the murder of a 24-year-old Indigenous woman in BC in 1989, and conversations about race in Canada, and why they’re so important.
